Angehört is a group of engaged people with a diverse set of backgrounds preparing asylum seekers for their interview with the German government, which is a decisive step for the outcome of the asylum process.
Through our regular visits to the reception centers of Germany, we inform the asylum seekers about their rights, clarify barriers in the asylum process and provide them with contact information for counseling centres. We are the first point of contact for the asylum seekers in Germany. We help to prepare them for their interview with the German authorities and regularly visit the centres in Eisenhüttenstadt and in Frankfurt-Oder. We also assist with other smaller matters which may involve the German authorities, and help them negotiate the maze of German bureaucracy beyond their initial hearing.
We are advised and supported by lawyers specializing in asylum law. In critical cases, they also take on the role of legal adviser and take further action such as appealing judicial decisions.
